Café Oaxaca, Sacramento, CA

For this small infill restaurant in an established strip center, we used ordinary materials in new ways to complement the “new” Mexican cooking. The bar features a corrugated plexiglass ceiling with backlighting. In the restaurant, acid-etched copper sheets are mounted to the t-bar panels. Asymmetrical cutouts between the bar and the restaurant, designed to work around the structural elements, link the two spaces.
